The Game of Dead is an innovative project that I designed to offer an enjoyable and interactive approach to educating people about the fascinating process of mummification in ancient Egypt. The game targets a young audience and requires players to memorize Egyptian mythology and follow the steps of mummification to make a certain number of mummies within a specified time period.
The game includes 54 cards, consisting of steps to make a mummy, amulets, and god cards. Players navigate through different zones, including the Field of Reed, Evil Spirit, and Special Green Zone, by rolling dice with numerals up to 3. The game's unique features, such as gold coins to save players from evil and special green zones that offer chances to skip a turn or roll the dice again, make it a fun and engaging way to learn about ancient Egyptian culture and history.
The design process for The Game of Dead involved a lot of brainstorming to determine the best approach to convey the message of mummification to players. The decision to create a playable board game that requires players to follow the steps of mummification proved to be a feasible and practical solution. The game aims to offer an immersive experience that not only educates but also entertains players. With its unique blend of educational content and interactive gameplay, The Game of Dead is a must-have for anyone interested in learning about ancient Egypt.
